Luxury Scent Box (LUXSB) is a subscription-based fragrance platform that allows members to discover designer fragrances and receive personalized monthly selections. I originally developed the platform on Drupal in 2015 and led a major rebuild in 2019. Since then, I have continued to architect, develop, and evolve the application across multiple Drupal generations and evolving business requirements.

At the core of LUXSB is a highly customized Drupal Commerce implementation supporting the complete subscription lifecycle. The platform initially relied on Drupal's contributed recurring billing ecosystem before I transitioned subscription management to Recurly, integrating its subscription and payment services directly with Drupal while maintaining a seamless experience for customers.

One of the platform's signature features is the Fragrance Calendar, which gives subscribers direct control over the fragrances they receive in upcoming months. I also developed an interactive Fragrance Survey backed by a proprietary recommendation algorithm that analyzes a customer's preferences and suggests fragrances they are likely to enjoy.

Beyond the customer-facing experience, LUXSB includes extensive operational tooling and integrations. ShipStation is integrated into the fulfillment workflow, while custom Drupal functionality supports order processing, shipping-label generation, subscription administration, and internal reporting. These tools allow much of the day-to-day operation of the subscription business to be managed from a centralized platform.

Over the years, maintaining LUXSB has also required solving challenges that extend well beyond traditional website development. I have implemented solutions for credit-card fraud mitigation, DDoS and application security, subscription synchronization, high-volume order fulfillment, automated label printing, administrative reporting, and long-term platform migrations.

The application has since been migrated to Drupal 10, with work underway to move the platform to Drupal 11. Maintaining LUXSB across multiple Drupal generations while preserving years of custom commerce functionality, integrations, customer data, and business processes has made the project an ongoing exercise in application architecture, modernization, and real-world e-commerce engineering.

Northwest Tree Service is one of the most recognizable small businesses in Port Orchard and the South Kitsap Area. Ron Rider, Owner of Northwest Tree Service, needed a refresh on his website along with a re-visit of his 'Marketing' plan that he was buying through a legacy phone-book service.

Ron's new site is mobile friendly with simple explanations and call-outs to services that his company provides. Ron is able to easily create blogs and upload images and videos of his work without having to do it the 'old' way. He simply logs in, adds content and saves. No more worry about formatting, creating menu items, customizing layout or any of those tasks that came with little support from discount web hosting.

Northwest Tree Service is built on a Drupal 8 platform and lives on an AWS server hosted by Webazzle. Using the Ubercart suite of Modules the site is able to take simple payments for work done through PayPal. While any sort of payment method online needs security, the simple nature of the process brings his users to his PayPal business account to complete payment so they know their information is secure while staying mostly within the context of the site. Using the same base theme as the Webazzle site, Northwest Tree Service uses the Bootstrap framework for layout and design elements while also using custom module development for extra design and functionality features.

Usable web content was slim-pickings during the initial build of the new site, but with the use of predefined templates and a well thought out content structure we were able to make the site more engaging and easier to understand.

As Ron and his team collect more images and establish a social media presence, the Northwest Tree Service website will be an excellent marketing tool when others are looking for trusted service.
